George Stephanopoulos with ABC certainly seems to think so. He took to Good Morning America on Sunday to drone on about how the Republicans don’t actually care about Cohen’s “testimony” (i.e. lies); they’re just towing the company line and standing in the way of the power hungry democratic vipers out for the President’s head.
Republicans have completely fallen in line. The President’s approval rating now among Republicans is close to 90 percent. One of the things we saw at the Cohen hearing this week, with maybe the exception of Justin Amash of Michigan, all the Republicans down the line attacking Michael Cohen implicitly defending the President even though they showed no interest in the kind of issues Cohen was raising at the time.
Stephanopoulos is leaning on the same old liberal rhetoric that it’s actually Republicans and not Democrats talking about impeachment, and that the Republicans don’t really support the President so much as they’re just playing party politics. Of course the same wasn’t true when the leftist media rallied behind Clinton during his sex scandal in the 90’s.
The spin doctors can keep pushing their propaganda while those of us who are invested in the truth will keep paying attention to the facts: Cohen is a liar and a traitor, President Trump hasn’t been found to be responsible for any collusion or wrong doing, and the Republicans who stand behind him do so because they care more about the truth than the court of public opinion.
